Microdermabrasion

Exfoliates the dry, damaged, outermost layers of skin cells to expose the healthy, radiant skin beneath. May help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks, uneven skin tone and large pores. For our microdermabrasion treatments, we use the Parisian Peel system. Parisian Peel, a well-known leader in providing equipment and products for non-surgical cosmetic procedures, uses tiny crystals rather than chemicals to reveal radiant skin.

  • Treatments typically take just 30 minutes and require little or no downtime.
  • The procedure involves little discomfort and most patients experience only a slight abrading or scratching sensation.
  • The equipment is customizable to optimize the treatment's effectiveness and ensure your comfort.

FAQS

How does microdermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion directs a stream of tiny crystals over the skin's surface. The technique combines pressure and suction to remove damaged skin cells, revealing a polished, revitalized complexion.

What can I expect during a microdermabrasion treatment?

First we will start by a cleanse and tone of your skin. Then, while you wear protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the crystals, your practioner will apply the crystal stream to your face, making one or more passes as needed depending on the condition being treated and its severity.

What can I expect after a microdermabrasion treatment?

Following the treatment, the aesthetician will cleanse your skin of residual crystals and add moisturizer and SPF protection to your skin. Some clients may have minimal redness in the treated area. You should minimize your sun exposure for five to seven days after treatment and use an SPF of 30 or higher.

Are there any side effects associated with microdermabrasion treatments?

Microdermabrasion treatments have limited or no downtime and most people resume daily activities immediately. Side effects include temporary redness and increased sun sensitivity. Some patients experience additional side effects that are generally minimal and temporary. Those risks include temporary discoloration of the treated area, minimal swelling and scarring.

How many treatments will I need?

While results may be noticed after one session, a series of six treatments, spaced two to three weeks apart, is recommended for optimal results.

If you have a history of scarring easily or of keloids, inform your microdermabrasion practitioner. If you have a history of cold sores, begin anti-viral therapy (such as Valtrex) two days prior to treatment.
